Staff Software Engineer @ Tilt

Salary, Exempt - Remote (USA)

Tilt (check us out here) is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Eligibility and Pay team and help us scale our business by guiding the architecture, interfaces and technologies to be used in our systems. This position is a full-time role reporting to our Engineering Manager. We want you to be successful here at Tilt! Below is a description of your role and responsibilities, including the things you will be held accountable for and the virtues, behaviors and competencies that are expected for this role. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Architect scalable and maintainable solutions, while driving important testing methodologies and quality assurance best practices.
  • Collaborate across teams to align dependencies, ensure cohesion, and guide projects from conception to delivery.
  • Be an owner and expert, leading through coding in the server-side Django codebase, ensuring reliability, availability, and adherence to quality principles.
  • Set technical direction and define architectural tradeoffs, regularly communicating and ensuring alignment through documentation and collaborative planning.
  • Ability to seamlessly transition between tasks and prioritize workload according to business priorities, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability
  • Review and approve technical design documents, ensuring adherence to architectural standards.
  • Mentor engineers of all levels, fostering a positive, collaborative environment that promotes continuing learning, growth, and technical excellence.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience developing strategic systems architecture plans with deep Python/Django expertise.
  • Proven ability to quickly ramp up on new systems and demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Strong proficiency in software design principles and technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, promoting best practices and fostering a positive team culture.
  • Passion for continuous learning, problem-solving, and staying up-to-date with emerging technologies.

Total Compensation 💰

The projected annual salary range is $175-185k USD plus stock options (ISOs), because we believe everyone should have some stake in our business. We are people-first and this ain’t some PR jazz, we truly give a damn about our peeps!
